The business I work for installed new carpeting in the front sections of our office five weeks ago. The carpet is off gassing; we have had doors open and professional size fans and air scrubbers in the building for weeks and the fumes have not lessened. The carpet has also been vacuumed several times a week and has been professionally cleaned. Employees and clients are complaining of the smell and we have employees getting sick. I have been told it can take up to 4 weeks or more for a carpet to off-gas but I find this hard to believe that anyone would tolerate fumes for this long. Please advise. Thank you.

Carpet takes a week, or less, to off-gas unless the building is totally enclosed. Fresh air is the key.
However; five weeks? Something is wrong either with the carpet or the glue or what may have been left on the floor surface that is not compatible with the new glue. I suggest you hire your own inspector to investigate this problem. Indoor air quality is important.
